2010 Handicap Series
The Handicap is a 5 race series, run over a 5 mile course, open to all Tewkesbury AC Club Members, with your best 3 results to count. The series will be held on the second Wednesday of the month, April through August, as these dates tend to fit around the numerous races planned by the other local running clubs.
The dates for 2010 are:
14th April
12th May
9th June
14th July
11th August
Start time: First runner away at 7pm sharp.
Location: Walton Cardiff Lane. Please park at Morrisons and not the local area.
Format: Each race is a 5 mile handicap, run over the same course (TAC 5 Mile). The handicap is that the faster you can run, the less time you will be given to complete the race. The runner requiring the longest time to complete the 5 mile circuit will set off at 7pm, with each subsequent runner effectively being given less and less time to complete the course. Hopefully, the start times will have been calculated so precisely that there will be a blanket finish. We got close a couple of times in 2009, so room from improvement in 2010! Points will be awarded for each race depending on the finishing order. The handicaps will be reviewed after each race so will improve our chances of getting a blanket finish later in the series.
At the end of the series, the runner with the highest point’s total (base on their best 3 results from the series) will be crowned Champion. The points will be rewarded as follows. First across the line will receive 30 points, 2nd 29 points 3rd 28 points ect.
See you all there on the 14th April

Morning All
Please find attached (below) the results for race 1.
Congratulations to Anne on wining race 1. Anne's pace is now 2 minutes a mile quicker than it was last year which is a massive improvement. Fortunately for everyone (except Anne i guess)Anne's increase in pace will be reflected in Anne's handicap for race 2.
Thanks to everybody who turned up on Wednesday night and a special thanks to Mungo, Roy and Peter for helping to run the race.
Cheers
Nick

Afternoon All

Congratulations to Rob on wining race 3, closely followed by Tom in second and Phil in third.
Anne maintains her top slot on the leader board on an impressive 81 points out of a maximum of 90.
Anne, however can still be beaten as only the top 3 scores count, therefore sseveral runners still can steal the seriers.
Thanks to everybody who turned up on Wednesday night and a special thanks to Craig, Carol and Peter for helping to run the race.
Also can I thank Phil for helping Kevin out at the end of the race.
Hope you enjoyed the race.

Congratulations to Andrew McLean on wining race 4, closely followed by Rachel Labdon in second and John Rawling in third place.
Tom has now knocked Anne off her top slot on the leader board on an impressive 83 points. However there is still plenty of chance for others to steal the top spot in the final race, as only your three highest scores count.
Thanks to everybody who turned up on Wednesday night and a special thanks to Roy, Nigel, Fran and Dan for helping to run the race.
Also I would like to thank Phil for getting Jim Einhauser of Wigwam Sock fame to watch the race and present Andrew and Rachel with a pair of Wigwam socks each for being the first male and female across the line.
The final race of this years Handicap series will take place on the 11 August. It would be great if as many club members as possible can run the race. It will also be my last race as the Handicapper, as sadley it looks higly likely that i am going to have to leave Tewkesbury for the bright lights of Milton Keynes as my company has seen fit to move me.
Sorry for the delay in getting the results out, and see you all soon
Nick
